"Run Becca!" The scream from her parents bed room echoed in the hallway where Becca stood, stiff and frightened. Blood curdling screams collapsed suddenly and Becca ran to the door of her parents bed room. Her eyes met with the masked stranger covered in blood. Tears welled up in her young eyes, darting from her mother's and father's blood soaked bodies. The puddles of blood glistened by the small swinging bulb in the center of the room. Becca held her breath and bolted for the front door of the old house. The screen door's old wood frame cracked as it slammed into the side of the house. Becca winced, the sound piercing her ears. Her small feet carried her towards the woods. As soon as she touched the beginning of the woods her lungs gasped for air. She forced herself to keep running. Thumpthumpthumpthump Her feet were bare, hardly resting on the hard dirt for more than a second. The swing. Her swing. Came into sight. Right at the center of the woods. She turned her head to look behind her. No one was there. Her arm brushed against the swing and she quickly hid behind a tree. She sobbed and covered her ears with her hands, the squeaking of the swing stabbing away at her silenced ears...

Becca Philips. Age sixteen. born December 12th, 1991. On November 17th, 1995, Becca's parents were both stabbed to death by an unknown assailant. Everyday she is haunted by the sight of her parents bodies, laying lifeless in a mixture of each others blood. After years of therapy, she has almost forgotten the whole episode. Or so she says. Becca knows that she will never be able to forget the image of her parents, the swing squeaking.
After the death, the house was bulldozed, a new one was built atop the large amount of land which be longed to her parents, but now it belonged to her horrid Aunt Jen, her fathers sister. Becca lives in the basement of the large house out of choice, but leading on that it was her aunts idea the whole time. Her single aunt refuses to let Becca live by herself or go to any other relatives, even though she hates her. If Jen loses Becca, she loses Becca's fortune.
At the beginning of August, a boy moved in next door to Becca and Jen. Jason Eperson. Age eighteen. He's moved away from California and surprisingly chose to move to Oregon, right next door to Becca. He says he needs a quiet place to live, peace. Becca catches his eye as he works on the house he's restoring. Jason catches Becca's eye as she sits in a tree, high in the branches, reading, and also watching him.
Will Becca ever return to her swing?
Will she fall for Jason?
